About South Florida Counseling
South Florida Counseling Agency was founded in 2006 by Karina Chernacov, who wanted to provide comprehensive, trauma-informed psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families. We support adolescents, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, relationship conflict, parenting concerns, grief and loss, major life transitions, and stress-related conditions. Our work also includes trauma recovery, crisis intervention, and high-conflict family matters requiring coordinated care. We also offer services in English, Portuguese, and Spanish.

We accept most major insurances such as Aetna, Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Florida Blue, Optum, Oscar, United Healthcare. Please call us to find out if we cover your plan if it’s not listed.
We offer secure telehealth sessions throughout Florida, allowing you to access care from the comfort and privacy of your own space. If in-person sessions are available, this can be discussed during your consultation.
The first session is an opportunity to begin building a working relationship. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, your history, and what you hope to gain from the process. You are welcome to share at your own pace. Together, we will begin identifying goals and discussing how therapy can support you.
The length of therapy varies for each person. Some individuals seek short-term support around a specific issue, while others benefit from longer-term work. The pace and duration depend on your goals, the concerns you bring, and the level of depth you would like to explore.
