Stephanie Dargoltz, M.S.Ed

I hold a M.S.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling and a Bilingual/Bicultural Certificate from the University of Miami. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology from Syracuse University. Being that I was formerly a competitive swimmer and enjoy studying the mind and work of athletes, I am planning to pursue a degree in the field of Sport Psychology and Counseling in the near future.

Over the years, I have worked with adults, athletes, children, families and groups in community settings, private practice, as well as a Rehabilitation Counselor for combat veterans and their families struggling with PTSD and trauma. Due to an interest in career counseling, I created psycho-educational job seminars for veterans (as part of the Vet Center) in order to help them adjust in the transition from military personnel to civilian employees. In addition, I have contributed to several parenting books and other authors’ work and actively write for the American Counseling Association’s online blog. As a therapist, I consider myself to be a firm believer in Positive Psychology as well as the Humanistic/Existential modalities of therapy. I am also from Colombian and European descent, and understand the role culture and language play on a person’s psyche and behavior, and take it in account when tailoring sessions for each client.

In providing counseling, I work from a client-centered perspective for I believe it is in the best interest of my clients to define their path toward self-actualization and authentic happiness.
